Dutchess County is located roughly 85 miles north of New York City and just above Putnam County on the east side of the Hudson River.

When most people think of New York, Dutchess County does not come to mind but here you will find rolling hills and much open space.  Before the real estate boom a few years ago there were many large farms to be found even in the most Southern part of the County.

The area has a rich history, part of the charm is the variety of older homes homes dating back to revolutionary times.  There are also many historical sites, the most famous is the FDR home and Library in Hyde Park which attracts visitors from all over the world.

Dutchess County continues to be a prime location for second homes as well as primary residences for many priced out of the market in more southern counties.  I have met many people who now call Dutchess home who remember fondly spending summers here and could not think of anywhere else to purchase a second home or retire to.

The County is made up of cities, towns and villages.
